Session Description: Being in Foster Care isn’t easy. Feelings can be confusing and overwhelming. Knowing how you feel and what works for you is really important. ‘Making Sense’ makes sure you can begin mindfulness to persevere through difficult times and continue your self-care at home with your own senses-focused toolkit. After all, our emotional needs start with our five senses.
Upon completion of this workshop participants will be able to:
Identify and name feelings that may be present when one is experiencing distress or healing from trauma (Story of Self/Personal Narrative)
Create a personal toolkit for support throughout one’s self-care journey as a way of implementing mindfulness strategies (Purpose/Meaningful contribution)
Learn multiple ways to cope with difficulties and stressors that occur throughout life in order to start to feel more in control of one’s self (Self-Regulation)
